*.AAE Files in iPhone DCIM Photo folder
What are these *.AAE files in my iPhoneInternal StorageDCIM folder? I am trying to import my photos from iPhone with a USB cable.
Hi guys, So, I was manually copying my photos from my iPhone onto my Win10 laptop and for some unknown reason decided to delete all the.aae files associated with the various jpegs before copying them over. I immediately found that the jpegs associated with the aae files were rendered unmovable. What is aae file? Files with aae file extension can be typically found by owners of Apple devices and computers and users of the Apple Photos app. The aae files contain edits and other changes made on a particular photo (.jpg). They purpose is to allow save non-destructive changes made on a photograph so the original photograph can be preserved.

*.AAE files are called sidecar files in Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) format.*.AAE files are used to record changes made by the Photos app on iPhone to original picture files.
When you take a picture using your iPhone, the picture will be saved in a *.JPG file.
When you edit a picture using the Photos app on your iPhone, all changes will be saved in a *.AAE file.
When you open the picture, iPhone will automatically apply the changes and give you the modified picture.
